Why reset the Linksys router to factory defaults?
In this phase, we will know about changing Linksys Router’s default password. Sometimes, we’d like to form some amends on the router, for that, we’d like to login into the router first and noticeably get to know the Linksys router’s default password. So just in case, we don’t have a username and password, so the only option left is to reset the router. You will reset the router by pressing the factory reset with the assistance of a fastener for around 10 seconds. While you reset the router you’ll the facility light blinking.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the Power LED of the router is blinking while you pressed the Reset button. It shows the switch is being reset appropriately.
Once you are through with the process, you’ll reset your Linksys Router default password and its default Login username and password also will change.
Note: The default password of Linksys Router is “admin” As for the username leave that field “blank”.
Once you reset it you just got to unplug and re-plug the router back.
How to reset the router using the webpage:-
- Firstly, by the default IP address of your Linksys Router, you will open your router page i.e. by 192.168.1.1 in the browser. Now, click on the Administration tab once you are done then click on the Factory Defaults sub-tab.
- Then you will find below the Factory Defaults section, just click on the Restore Factory Defaults button.
- When the router is resettled we just got to reconfigure it back again consistent with your Internet service type.
How to Change the Linksys router password?
Step 1:
Connect to your Router Make sure your computer or mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Linksys router. You can do this by selecting your Wi-Fi network and entering the password if prompted.
Step 2:
Access the Router’s Web Interface Open a web browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) and enter the router’s IP address into the address bar. The default IP address for most Linksys routers is usually “192.168.1.1” or “192.168.0.1“. Press Enter or click Go.
Step 3:
Enter Login Credentials You will be prompted to enter a username and password to access the router’s web interface. If you haven’t changed them before, the default username is often “admin” (without quotes) and the password is usually either “admin” or left blank. Enter the credentials and click Login or press Enter.
Step 4:
Navigate to the Password Settings Once logged in, you should see the router’s administration interface. Look for a section labeled “Wireless” or “Security” in the menu. The exact location may vary depending on your router model. Click on it to expand the options.
Step 5:
Change the Wi-Fi Password Within the Wireless or Security section, you will find an option to change the Wi-Fi password. It is often labeled as “Wireless Password,” “Network Key,” or “Passphrase.” Click on that option to proceed.
Step 6:
Set a New Password Now, enter your desired new password in the designated field. Make sure to choose a strong password that combines letters, numbers, and special characters for added security. It’s recommended to avoid using common or easily guessable passwords.
Step 7:
Save the Changes After setting the new password, find the “Save” or “Apply” button on the page, usually located at the bottom or top-right corner. Click on it to save your changes.
Step 8:
Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network Once the changes are saved, your Linksys router will restart, and the Wi-Fi network will temporarily disconnect. Reconnect your computer or mobile device to the network using the new password you just set.
Congratulations! You have successfully changed the password for your Linksys router. Remember to update the Wi-Fi password on all your devices to maintain a secure connection.
