SETTING UP LINKSYS RE9000 Extender

The Linksys RE9000 Range Extender can be set up as Range Extender mode or as an Access Point mode. This article will show you the steps on how you can set it up on Range Extender mode.

Before you begin, make sure to have the following:

• A configured dual-band wireless router or access point (preferred).
• A computer or tablet with Wi-Fi capability.
• The existing Wi-Fi name and password of your wireless router
• Your Linksys RE9000 Extender should be on factory settings for initial setup, in case it is not, reset it by holding the reset button for 5 seconds)

Linksys RE9000 Extender Setup

Step 1:
Firstly, plug in your Linksys RE9000 Extender in the power outlet and wait for the light indicator to blink orange.

Step 2:
with the help of Wi-Fi-capable devices like a computer or cell phone, look for Linksys Extender Setup in the list of available Wi-Fi and connect to it.

Step 3:
Once connected, click on the website here “https://extenderlinksyssetup.com/“, “extender.linksys.setup” or type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

Step 4:
Now on the page, click on Start Setup.

NOTE: In case Linksys RE9000 is not able to detect a DHCP server, then its defaults IP address is, 192.168.1.1.
For those who want to bypass the setup wizard, click on the Manual Setup link.

Step 5:
Two options will be available on the screen, select the Next button under the As a “wireless range extender” option.

Step 6:
Since it is MU_MIMO technology, by default it will scan for an existing 5 GHz Wi-Fi network and use it as a main upstream connection for better Internet Speed. Click on your 5GHz Network to enhance it.

NOTE: If your router only supports a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, scroll down and click on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band option instead.

Step 7:
Now you will be prompted to enter the Network Password in the field, once done hit Next. The network password is the same as your Main Router or Access point.

Step 8:
Click Next, on the window.

NOTE: Band Steering ON is the default setting. In case, you want to name your range extender’s radio band something else then uncheck Band Steering and enter your credentials in the fields provided then click Next.

Step 9:
With the help of Spot Finder determine the best place for your Linksys RE9000 Setup.

Step 10:
Change the admin password of your Linksys RE9000 Extender then Save settings.

Step 11:
You can register your Linksys RE9000 by entering your Email Address. Click Next once done. Click Skip, if you want to bypass registration.

Step 12:
lastly, try connecting your devices with the New Extended Network.

NOTE: Your Linksys Extender Network Name will be showing up with _EXT in the wireless network names.

Your Linksys RE9000 MU_MIMO Range Extender should now be setup. Enjoy your High Speed Wi-Fi.
